Bushwackers Announce Final Selection of 2012 Program

The Bushwackers announce the final selection in our American Roots show will be “American Faces” by David Holsinger. This very fast paced and challenging piece will close out the show with its contemporary sounds, fascinating rhythms, and changing meters that have become trademarks of David Holsinger.

The music of American Faces combines innovative original melodies along with traditional songs such as Simple Gifts (made famous by Aaron Copland in Appalachian Spring). This section will bring the show full circle as we are reminded that the true character of American music is about breaking new ground and taking chances regardless of the time period it in which it was written.
The brass have already received 2 minutes of the closer and now have about 90% of the show in their hands. Now that all the music has been chosen, some rewrites are in the works with the intro to the show to better foreshadow the current selection of songs. The corps will be working through all of these changes and new music at our next camp on March 10 & 11.
