There is so much more to a successful drum and bugle corps than just what happens on the field. Every great group is supported by alumni, family, and friends behind the scenes. From helping to bring equipment onto the field to sewing, The Bushwackers are in need of volunteer support. Unlike most marching band programs, we don’t have a parent organization to support us, so please consider volunteering a little bit of your time. TRUCK DRIVERS. The Corps truck is a pick-up truck with a trailer, it takes no special license to drive and is easy to maneuver. For quite some time now it has been the marching members or staff that have driven the truck. These people put in very full days of rehearsal and a performance and then when they are exhausted must drive the truck home. We have been VERY fortunate thus far that nothing has happened. We need help with this all summer long, but if you can only do a show or two that’s fine! Let us know and we’ll work with you.
PIT & PROP CREW. We have many things that will need to be brought on and off the field for each performance for all shows. We need help with this all summer long, but if you can only do a show or two that’s fine! Let us know and we’ll work with you.
SOUVIE SALES. The Bushwackers often don’t have a souvie stand, and the main reason is because we don’t have someone to run it. All it takes is coming to a show and sitting at our table. The souvies sell themselves, and you get to meet many friendly drum corps fans. Plus, you get to see the corps perform for free! The more people the merrier, so bring a friend.
COOKS. Now that we provide meals for the Corps, we need assistance in preparing the food for consumption by the drum corps. All it takes is some cooking know how, setting up the “buffet” for the corps, and a warm smile! Also, food donations and cooking supplies are always welcome. DCA CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND. Labor Day Weekend. We will need people to help support the corps in a variety of ways, so please volunteer.
