Introducing the 2013 Bushwackers Brass Staff

The Bushwackers are pleased to announce our brass staff for 2013!

Dennis Argul returns as our brass arranger to put together another exciting, challenging, and fan-friendly show. Dennis has a long history with the Bushwackers as well as several other top drum corps in both DCA and DCI. Joining Dennis will be some new faces to the brass staff this year.

We are excited to welcome Geoff Harman as our new Brass Caption Head. Geoff’s drum corps performance experience includes playing trumpet for the Crossmen, the Bluecoats, and as a soloist for the Reading Buccaneers. Geoff attended West Chester University of Pennsylvania where he earned his Bachelor of Music Education while studying trumpet, and is currently pursuing his Master of Music Education at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois. He serves as the assistant director of bands at Louis E. Dieruff High School in Allentown, Pennsylvania as well as judging music for the marching band arm of the Cavalcade of Bands Association.

Assisting Geoff will be Michael Tanzos whose drum corps career began in 2009 with The Reading Buccaneers. After marching with the Buccaneers, Mike went on to march in The Cadets in 2010 & 2011. After aging-out with the 2011 DCI World Championship drum corps, Mike returned to DCA in 2012 to serve as horn sergeant in the inaugural season of The Cadets2. He has also taught various High School and Middle School ensembles, including the Whitehall Marching Band.

Also joining the staff is Mike Poulin who marched with DCI Open Class five-time gold medalists, The Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps – where he was the mellophone soloist and recipient of the “Friends of DCI” scholarship and “Spartan of the Year” award in 2010. Mike recently received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst where he studied horn with Laura Klock, and marching music with George Parks, Thomas Hannum, and Michael Klesch. He has taught at both the high school and drum corps level, and currently resides in Littleton, NH as an employee of Lawson Horns – maker of handmade custom French Horns.

Rounding out the brass staff is Aaron Staluppi who is currently a graduate assistant at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he is the manager and assistant conductor of the University Orchestra, assistant conductor with the University Concert Band, and director of the UMass Brass Choir. Aaron received his bachelor’s degree in music education and tuba performance from UMass Amherst, and is currently on staff with the George N. Parks Drum Major Academy where thousands of students attend to learn conducting, marching, communication, and leadership skills.

Meet the brass staff at the FREE Bushwackers Open House on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the Princeton Day School (650 Great Rd, Princeton, NJ) starting at 11am. With a great staff, a dedicated administration, and top-notch facilities, all that’s missing right now is YOU!!
