The Bushwackers are pleased to announce our guard staff for 2013.
Kaitlyn Galvin returns to the Bushwackers as Co-Caption head and looks to build on the growth and excellence of the guard from last year. Kaitlyn joined the Bushwackers guard in 2009 and rose through the ranks to be the guard captain in 2011 and caption head last year. Prior to that, she marched in both DCI and WGI; aging out of DCI in 2005 and winning a Gold medal in WGI in 2003. Kaitlyn has been instructing and developing guard programs for well over ten years including the Citations Drum and Bugle Corps and Marshwood High School Winter guard. She brings to the Bushwackers staff her enthusiasm and passion for the 2013 season.
The Bushwackers are proud to welcome home George Mattis as Co-Caption head. George started his drum corps marching career in 1983. Between 1983 and 1992 he performed with the Skyliners, the Bushwackers, and Sprit of Atlanta as well as Conquest winter guard. George has taught multiple HS winter guards including Bridgewater-Raritan, Hillsborough, Ramapo-Indian Hills, North Plainfield, Ridgewood, and Ridge High Schools. He also taught independent winter guards throughout NJ and PA including The Classics, Winter Sky, and Pegasus who was a multiple WGI finalist in Class A and Open. His outdoor teaching includes Skyliners from 1993-1996 as well as the Hawthorne Caballeros and the Raiders.
The Bushwackers are excited to have Andrea Schloss as Guard Instructor. Andrea is the epitome of what it is to be a Bushwacker as she has performed with the corps as head drum major, in the colorguard, and in the cymbal line. She has also marched with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, with WGI Independent World Class Finalist Emanon Winter Guard, as well as with the University of Connecticut Marching Band and Indoor Colorguard. Andrea has designed, taught, and consulted with various marching bands and indoor groups from Pennsylvania to Connecticut. Andrea is excited to join the Bushwackers Color Guard staff for 2013.
