The Bushwackers are excited to announce our visual staff for 2013.
The Bushwackers welcome David Caravella as our visual designer. Dave’s drum corps teaching experience includes working with the Reading Buccaneers 2010-2011, the Cadets2 2012, and the Raiders 2007-2009. Dave has performed with national and international touring ensembles including the Concord Blue Devils 2005-2006, the Cadets of Bergen County 2004, and the Raiders 2001-2003. David has also taught at several high school marching bands in the north jersey area and is currently the visual caption head & designer for the 2011 National Open Class Champions Montville Township HS as well as assistant band director for Kearny HS Marching Band. In addition to marching band, he is the full time director of bands 4th-8th grade at Lincoln School in Kearny.
Nate Savalza will take on the the lead role as visual caption head. Nate was a member of the 2000 DCI Division II (Open Class) Champions, Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets as well as the 2003 & 2004 DCI Division I (World Class) Seattle Cascades. Nate has had the privilege of teaching several marching arts organizations in the Pacific Northwest including the Cascades Drum & Bugle Corps, Westview High School, Southridge High School, Skyview High School, and Sunset High School. Nate now calls New York his home and is an active marching band designer, consultant, and works as a show coordinator and adjudicator with USBands.
Alex Hancock will join the visual staff as a visual technician. Alex is an active member in the marching community designing and teaching marching ensembles in the Northwest. His marching experience includes the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps from 2008-2010 winning two DCI World Championships and receiving the Director’s Award for outstanding performance on and off the field in his final year, as well as 2 years with the Seattle Cascades. Alex has designed and taught many high schools in the Northwest and is currently the Assistant Director of the Marching Band, Visual Designer, and Visual Caption Head for The Lewis and Clark High School Marching Band in Spokane, WA.
Sean Donnelly will also join the staff as a visual technician. This past season, Sean served as Drum Major with the Cadets2 Drum and Bugle Corps during their inaugural season. Previously, he has served as Drum Major for the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band, under the direction of George N. Parks. Sean is currently the Director of Instrumental Music at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, Rhode Island where he is the director of two concert bands, two jazz bands, the “Hawk” Marching Band and their chamber instrumental program.

The six-time DCA world champion Bushwackers are a competitive drum and bugle corps based in Princeton, NJ. We rehearse twice a month through the winter and early spring, then perform most weekends throughout the summer. Our members range in age from 15 to 25+, with an average age of about 20. The Bushwackers’ goal is to provide a world class drum corps experience to our members that’s educational, fun, affordable, and competitively successful.
