Anthony Ohannessian is excited to work with the Bushwackers Drum and Bugle Corps for his first season! A senior music education major at the University of Delaware, Anthony currently plays principal trombone with the University of Delaware Symphony Orchestra, the highest position for a trombonist at UD. Anthony has been part of the UDSO since 2012, and recently performed on the orchestra’s tour to South America. Since 2010, Anthony has enjoyed performing with multiple ensembles at Delaware, including the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Trombone Choir—a group that will be featured this June at the International Trombone Festival.
Anthony has also remained active in the marching arts. He has been a member of the University of Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hen Marching Band since 2010, and a member of the student staff since 2011. In 2013, Anthony served as the Brass Coordinator for the UDMB. This role required him to act as the section leader for the UDMB’s 100-plus member hornline. The position also allowed him to lead rehearsals of show music, to teach brass technique, and to conduct warm-ups with the hornline before every rehearsal and performance. Anthony also had the privilege of marching euphonium in Drum Corps International with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps. With the Blue Stars, Anthony had the pleasure of marching under Tom Aungst, Ralph Stewart, and Frank Sullivan.
In his free time, Anthony Ohannessian enjoys spending time with his two dogs, Snowball and Zoey.
