The Bushwackers are proud to welcome home George Mattis as Color Gurad Caption head and Designer. George Mattis started his drum corps marching career in 1983. Between 1983 and 1992 he performed with the Skyliners, Bushwackers, and Sprit of Atlanta as well as Conquest winter guard.
George has taught multiple HS winter guards including Ramapo-Indian Hills, North Plainfield, Ridgewood, Bridgewater-Raritan, and Hillsborough. He also taught independent winter guards throughout NJ and PA including The Classics, Winter Sky, and WGI A Class Silver Medalist and Open Class Finalist Pegasus Winter Guard. His outdoor teaching includes Skyliners from 1993-1996 as well as the Hawthorne Caballeros and the Raiders.
Currently George is the program coordinator and Guard designer at Ridge High School.
