The Bush Bugle has served as the online newsletter to connect with family, alumni, and friends since the beginning of the Corps.

With the new updated look of the Drum Corps, we felt that the Bush Bugle should follow suit. We hope to serve The Bushwackers and the Drum Corps community with new and exciting content on a monthly basis.

Open House, Winter Season a Success

Despite weekend after weekend of snowy weather, the Bushwackers recruiting and rehearsal efforts have paid off tremendously.

The Bushwackers had a huge turnout at their November 2013 Open House. The administration put together a high octane recruiting team that pounded the fall band circuit and developed a huge interest in the Corps.

The Open House saw the attendance of a full sized hornline, drumline, and pit. The educational staff has worked magic in retaining the bulk of those members going into the Spring season.

The Corps is sporting the largest hornline in recent memory, and the educational staff is working around the clock to get the last couple holes filled. The Brass and Percussion members are in high spirits as they prepare to head outside and start setting drill. The Bushwackers have more than DOUBLED IN SIZE since the 2013 season!

Fundraising Efforts Successful So Far

The Bushwackers have initiated a number of Fundraising efforts since 2013 DCA Finals, and they have been met with a rousing success.

BushBackers – Beginning with our BushBackers Campaign, many friends and alumni took advantage of various donation levels offered, each of which earned you free Beefsteak tickets, Cruise Raffle tickets, and complimentary admission to the DCA Show hosted by the Bushwackers in August.

Holiday Fund Drive – The Corps tried something new this year in initiating a Holiday Campaign in order to get a few “gifts” for the Corps that were much needed. With everyone’s support, we were able to purchase several new marimbas for the front ensemble and some extra horns for our growing brass section. We are still in need a couple more keyboards and brass, so please consider helping us with this project!

Beefsteak Dinner and NFL Playoffs – Touted as a gathering of Alumni, Friends, and Current Members, the first Bush Beefsteak Dinner was a big hit for all in attendance in January. All-you-can-eat Filet Mignon, served with salad, pasta, and dessert was delicious as the crowd watched the NFC-AFC Championship Game and raised some much money for the Corps’ operations budget. Many Bushwackers Alumni mixed with the current members and a great time was had by all.
