The Bushwackers Drum Corps is pleased to welcome Joey Southerland to our design and education teams as Color Guard Designer and Caption Head in 2015.
Joey has been teaching and designing visual programs for over 25 years. He began his career performing with Challengers Color Guard as well as the PAL Drum & Bugle Corps from Philadelphia, PA. Having developed a love for pageantry and color guard, Joey became involved in the high-level design, education, and administration of many programs during his career.
Joey’s extensive background in WGI produced finalist with Extraordinaire Winter Guard and High Voltage Winter Guard. He has had tremendous success building programs at perennial finalist Haddon Heights Marching Band and Indoor Guard and ArchBishop Ryan High School Marching Band and Dance Ensemble. Currently, Joey is designer of Co-Motion Indoor Guard based out of South Jersey. Within the NJA and TIA circuit, Joey produced championship titles with Extraordinaire, High Voltage, and ArchBishop Ryan organizations.
Southerland serves in the fall as an adjudicator with the National Judges Association. With the Corps’ effort to team with local educators and ensembles, Joey’s South Jersey and Philadelphia roots brings a wealth of resources, experiences and successes to the Bushwackers Color Guard program.
