Meet the 2016 Bushwackers Drum Majors

Drum Majors

On Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the close of the day’s rehearsal, corps director Harlan Landes announced and introduced the drum majors for the 35th anniversary season of the Bushwackers Drum and Bugle Corps.

The administration and staff are excited to now share the names of the three Bushwackers who will serve the organization as drum majors this coming year: Anthony Joseph, Tyler Miller, and Magdalen Sheffield.

The 2016 season is Anthony’s third year as a member of the Bushwackers. He has been an integral part of the trumpet section throughout his tenure with the corps. Anthony was formerly the drum major of Pemberton Township High School.

“Being a Bushwacker is something that has been permanently affixed with my identity. I have never encountered a place that I have loved so dearly. Being a drum major is the ultimate opportunity to serve to the Bushwackers, extend the corps’ rich legacy, and be a grand part of the Bushwacker heritage.”

Tyler began his marching career with the Connecticut Hurricanes at the age of 16. In addition to the Hurricanes, he has been a marching member of the Cadets. In 2015, in addition to his role as low brass instructor for the Bushwackers, Tyler was the Assistant Drum Major. Once again, now for the corps’ 35th anniversary season, Tyler is serving the corps as brass instructor and drum major.

“Filling both roles has been exciting and educational. I look forward to once again being a staff member, as well as a drum major alongside Magdalen and Anthony. The three of us are going to provide the best Bushwackers experience possible for the corps.”

Magdalen was the Assistant Drum Major for the Bushwackers in her first season with the corps in 2012. Following a year of serving as drum major at Pemberton Township High School, she returned in 2014 to join the Bushwakcers cymbal line.

“I’m excited to play my part to make this season the Perfect Year and honor all the men and women who have worn the Bushwackers uniforms before me.”

The 2016 Bushwackers is shaping up to be a historic year for the corps. With an exciting production in the works, the corps is eager to make its impact on the field.

Our next rehearsal for brass and percussion is Sunday, February 21 in Princeton, New Jersey. The color guard will join us next for our free spin clinic on Sunday, March 13. We have several openings across all sections of the corps, so join us now. Feel free to email info@bushwackers.org with any questions.
