Jay O’Brien is an active freelance performer and teacher in the NYC area. From 2000-2004 he marched in the front ensemble with the Crossmen, while earning a bachelor and masters degree in percussion performance. From 2007-2008 he wrote, produced and performed in Recycle This! at Six Flags Great Adventure, and in 2014 traveled to Colorado for 4 months to lead a production of Industrial Movement for SilverTree Entertainment. In May he was asked to be the drummer for Le Scandal in NYC.
He was the caption head and arranger for Bridgewater-Raritan High School from 2008-2014 and now is the arranger and caption head at Mt. Olive High School. As of 2016, Jay is also teching the front ensemble at Northern Highlands High School. Currently he is writing for many bands in the NJ area including Mt. Olive, and Pequannock.
