Announcing the 2018 Bushwackers key instructional staff!

As planning for the 2018 season continues and applications are now open for the next edition of the Bushwackers Drum Corps, we are pleased to announce an expanded instructional leadership team.

Color Guard

Caption Supervisor: Lauryn Heller

Lauryn Heller returns to the Bushwackers for her third year with the Bushwackers. Lauryn’s instructional experience includes Haddon Heights HS, Washington Township HS, Surge Independent, DCI World Class Finalist The Cadets (2014-2015), Bushwackers (2016-2018), and other programs in the New Jersey area.

Most recently, she has joined The Black Watch WGI Independent World Class organization as a staff member for 2017 and continued in 2018. She is also currently a member of the DCI World Class Finalists Blue Knights color guard staff and has been since 2016, and she is on the visual staff of the WGI World Class United Percussion. Lauryn and the guard staff revitalized the Bushwackers color guard in 2016.

Caption Lead: Lance Boggs

Lance Boggs started the performing arts while dancing in a studio named Chico Creek Dance, located in California. He continued to dance throughout his high school years, with a focus on hip hop and lyrical. After high school Lance moved to Seattle, Washington. While there, he marched with Rhapsody Winter Guard under the direction of Jimmy Fursmen, who Lance credits for teaching him how to run and teach a color guard.

Lance is a member of Black Watch and has been since 2014. He also has experience teaching color guards in the area.

Percussion

Caption Supervisor: Billy Zarychta

From Allendale, New Jersey, Billy Zarychta began his marching career at Northern Highlands Regional High School, where he currently teaches. He continued his marching career in DCA, playing Snare at Fusion Core in 2013, Cadets2 in 2014, and eventually moving to the DCI World Class Finalist Crossmen in 2015. In 2016, Billy was the Bushwackers’ snare technician.

In 2017, Billy marched with the George Mason University WGI Independent World Class Indoor Drumline following three seasons with Cadets Winter Percussion, where he won Percussion Independent Open in 2014, and was an Independent World Class Finalist in 2015 and 2016. He is currently the battery coordinator for Imperial Dynasty indoor percussion.

Caption Lead: Alex Musliner

Alex Musliner is excited to return to the Bushwackers instructional team for the 2018 season. Most recently, Alex is the battery manager for George Mason University WGI Independent World Class Indoor Percussion. He has performed as a member of Cadets2 and DCI World Class Finalist Carolina Crown.

Alex graduated from Lehigh University for Computer Engineering in 2015 and currently working as a developer at a website provider.

Brass

Caption Supervisor: Jacob Ulm

Jacob Ulm graduated from James Madison University with a bachelor’s degree in music education. He marched with DCI World Class Finalist The Cadets in 2010 and 2011 and was on the instructional staff for the Connecticut Hurricanes in 2012 and 7th Regiment in 2014, 2015, and 2016.

Jacob is formerly the high school band director in Everett, Massachusetts before relocating with his family to New Jersey. He is now a middle school band director in Elizabeth and an instructor with the Elizabeth High School marching band.

Visual

Caption Supervisor: Brendan Murphy

Brendan Murphy is excited to join the Bushwackers staff in 2018. His marching career includes the University of Delaware Marching Band, the Reading Buccaneers, and WGI World Class United Percussion. Brendan was on the instructional staff with Cadets Winter Percussion and Cadets2, where in 2016, he worked as the battery and hornline choreographer winning a 1st place DCA World Championship and High Percussion.

He has been the program coordinator for the Imperial Dynasty WGI indoor percussion since 2017. Brendan joined the percussion staff at DCI World Class Finalist Carolina Crown in 2017 and continues to teach there as a quad technician. He is also currently a percussion and visual adjudicator for USBands.

Caption Lead: Jordan Fisch

Jordan Fisch returns to the Bushwackers for his second season on staff. He graduated from West Chester University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in music education. While there he served in the role of student coordinator of the West Chester University Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band for three years.

Jordan also marched with the DCI World Class Finalist corps, Crossmen (2006), Boston Crusaders (2007), and The Cadets (2008-2010). Jordan has been working with marching bands in New Jersey and Pennsylvania since 2008 and currently enjoys writing the drill for and working with several competitive local marching bands outside his home town of Jackson, NJ.
