Dear Bushwackers Family,
When will these unusual times end? It’s safe to say that’s all on our minds. All of us, not just the drum corps world are dealing with more uncertainty than we’ve ever had in our lives. Eventually, our “normal”, regular routine will return but when? No one knows for certain but when it does, I think we’ll all need drum corps and each other more than ever …..to laugh, to create beauty, to dance, to spin, to play music, to push our limits, to be together, and to heal.
Ironically, we were about to give you all an update about all the numerous positive and exciting things that were happening behind the scenes in Bush land 2020, but when the world crisis hit it seemed inappropriate to do so in light of all that was going on. We have been working hard every day, and still are, looking towards the days that we will all meet again as a Bushwacker family.
There are many ‘if’ scenarios we are processing but eventually time will dictate which direction we will go. Right now we are in a holding pattern and waiting to see what happens. We’ll certainly have a clearer picture by the middle of May on where we stand as a nation and consequently as a drum corps. Members’ health, wellness, safety and security will always be the number one driving force in any decision involving the corps. We have obviously cancelled our brass rehearsal on March 29th and our April 25th & 26th full corps outdoor rehearsal. In the meantime the staff is working on putting together virtual rehearsals to keep our members engaged and at least provide an outlet during these times.
We are remaining positive and optimistic to be together again this season in one form or another but if these cannot be met, we do what Bushwackers do best..We regroup and put the next plan of attack towards the future.
So as we go on pause waiting for the world to heal and gauging when we can meet again based on Gov’t and CDC information and approval to return to our regular routine, we first and foremost wish you and your families all the best…… and hope you find comfort, healing and joy while tapping into your artistic expression and artistry during these unusual times.
