Edward Griffin is currently a student at Rutgers University, where he is student teaching and completing a double-major in Music Education and Music Performance. At Rutgers, Eddie has studied euphonium and brass pedagogy with Aaron Vanderweele, Alan Baer, and Jerry Peel. He has played in Rutgers’ finest ensembles, along with several award-winning brass bands across the tri-state area.
Eddie is an active educator throughout New Jersey. He has instructed several marching bands in the state including Westfield, Monroe Township, Mount Olive, Toms River North, and Bridgewater-Raritan High Schools. Most notably, he works on the staff at John P. Stevens High School, where he instructs the brass and is a member of the marching band design team. In 2018, J.P. Stevens earned its first BOA Regional Finals Placement in Newark, DE, placing 2nd overall and winning two captions. Eddie maintains a private studio of more than ten students, with several of students having earned acceptance into honor ensembles and university music departments.
Eddie and his family have been involved in drum corps his entire life as members, instructors, and adjudicators. In 2018, Eddie had the pleasure of serving on brass staff at the Bushwackers. He is excited to move to the role of Brass Caption Head for the 2019 season.
