GaryEnglishGary English, a native of Bedford, VA, is currently the Director of Bands at South County High School in Lorton, VA. He directs the high school symphonic band, concert band, percussion ensemble, indoor drumline, and teaches two levels of music theory. Prior to his appointment at South County, he was the associate director of bands at Chantilly High School and the director of bands and choirs at Parry McCluer High School in Buena Vista, VA. While at Chantilly High School, Mr. English was involved in two Virginia Honor Band ratings, Blue Ribbon distinction, and a Winter Guard International champion drumline.

Mr. English earned his Bachelor of Music Education from James Madison University in 2007, studying French Horn with Dr. Abigail Pack and conducting with Mr. Scott Rikkers and Dr. J. Patrick Rooney. He has also participated in conducting workshops with Dr. Kevin Sedatole, Dr. John Lynch, and Mr. Travis Cross.

Mr. English performed with numerous ensembles at JMU and was a member of the world renown James Madison University Marching Royal Dukes.  Gary was member of the 2005  Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps where he won the Drum Corps International World Championship and Gold Medal.

Mr. English is an active performer in both the Fairfax Wind Symphony and the Appalachian Brass Orchestra from Johnson City, TN. He also a member of VMEA, VBODA, FCDBA, MENC, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
