This past Saturday, the Bushwackers Alumni Assosciation held their annual Reunion and Hall of Fame Dinner at Robbins Reef Yacht Club in Bayonne, welcoming its 3 newest members, Frank Nash, Laurie Hall and Brian Law.
Frank Nash was well known as an excellent snare drummer before he arrived at Bush in the mid 80s. Fellow Hall of Famer Jim Dugan said at the dinner, “When ‘Fast Frankie’ joined the corps, they knew that they’d arrived.”
Brian Law has worn many hats throughout his years with the Bushwackers, including Baritone, Drum Major, Administrator, Visual Staff, Drill Writer, and probably some more I missed. Regardless of his role, Brian was always an extremely positive presence on the field. He was missed last year, but we are all looking forward to seeing Brian more often in the future.
Laurie (Nielsen) Hall was a great leader of the Corps during her time on the podium. In addition to being one of our greatest Drum Majors, Laurie also spent many years on Mellophone, and even a few on Contra. While it was unfortunate that she was unable to travel back to New Jersey for the dinner, it was good to hear from her through an email.
The Bushwackers Alumni Assosciation has already begun accepting nominations for the Class of 2012. For more information, visit www.BushwackersAlumni.org. And check back here for the Hall of Fame section, coming soon. Also, you can “like” the Bushwackers Alumni Organization on Facebook.
The six-time DCA world champion Bushwackers are a competitive all-age drum and bugle corps based in Central New Jersey. We rehearse once a month through the winter and early spring, then perform most weekends throughout the summer. Our members range in age from 14 to 29+, with an average age of about 22. The Bushwackers’ goal is to provide a competitive, affordable, world class drum corps experience to our members that’s educational and fun.
