Cameron is joining the Bushwackers as the Brass Caption Head for the 2015 season. Having performed with the DCI World Class Finalist Carolina Crown, the 2002 DCI Division II World Champions Magic of Orlando, and DCA World Finalist Carolina Gold, Mr. Baker brings a wealth of experience to the Bushwackers.
Currently in his 9th year as the Director of Bands at Floyd E. Kellam High School in Virginia Beach, VA. , Mr. Baker received his Bachelors in Music Education from East Carolina University in 2004, and received his Masters of Music in Music Education (Suma Cum Laude) in 2012 from Old Dominion University, where he studied conducting with Dennis Zeisler.
Having worked with the corps from 2003 through the 2006 seasons, Mr. Baker was instrumental in helping Carolina Gold achieve their DCA World Finalist status for the first time in that Corps’ history, placing in the top 6 at DCA Championships. In 2006, Mr. Baker moved on to work with DCI Division II World Finalist Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps, and again returned to the Drum Corps arena as a member of the Jersey Surf Brass Education Team in 2009 and 2010 as Surf made their debut in DCI World Class Competition.
Mr. Baker continues to actively perform within his community as a member of the Virginia Wind Symphony, a winner of the Sousa Foundation’s Sudler Silver Scroll Award and two-time Mid-West International Band Clinic performer. The Virginia Wind Symphony has recorded several CDs and been under the baton of an array of American Bandmasters Association members such as Frank Wickes, Terry Austin, Ed Lisk, and Dennis Zeisler to name a few.
Mr. Baker is also an active member of the Music Educators National Conference, the Virginia Music Educators Association, the National Educators Association, Pi Kappa Lambda – a National Music Honor Society, and Phi Mu Alpha Symphonia — a Professional Music Fraternity for Men.
