Jim is entering his 32nd season with the Bushwackers. Currently as Executive Director since 2020, he has held many roles with the organization throughout the years including marching snare, drum major, co-show coordinator, program coordinator, percussion caption head. Jim has played an important role in the growth and success of the corps while helping mentor and develop generations of staff and performers.
Jim was inducted in the Bushwacker Hall of Fame in 2010, World Drum Corps Hall of Fame in 2022, and New Jersey Drum Corps Hall of Fame in 2026.
Involved in drum corps practically all his life, Jim started at the age of six when his dad taught him to play the drums. He went on to play snare with Bayonne Bridgemen winning two DCI drum trophies his last two years.
Jim was the snare tech and battery coordinator for Bluecoats and is proud to have been a part of their first finals appearance.
Jim has taught many high school bands over the years in New Jersey and Connecticut. He is currently an adjudicator for USBands, NJMBDA and NESBA.
With a BS from Central Connecticut State University, Jim is now a retired accountant where he lives in Milford, Connecticut with his wife Janet, his drum corps sweetheart from their high school days.
NATHAN SCHULTZ (he/him/his) is the Co-Director of the Bushwackers Drum and Bugle
Corps. Nathan is an arts administrator and nonprofit consultant in the Philadelphia region, with leadership experience at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Opera Philadelphia, and Philadelphia Theatre Company. He has spent his career working with arts and nonprofit organizations on organizational development, fundraising, leadership, and strategy. Nathan holds a Master of Public Administration with a focus on nonprofit management and has served in leadership roles on nonprofit boards in the Philadelphia region. Nathan is the parent of a current Bushwackers corps member.
TONY RIDEOUT (he/him/his) is the Co-Director and designer for the
Bushwackers Drum and Bugle Corps, as well as a designer for Norwalk (CT)
Scholastic Open Indoor Percussion. A performer with the Reading Buccaneers and
The Cadets of Bergen County, Tony has served on instructional and design staffs
for Carolina Crown, Crossmen, Boston Crusaders, Jersey Surf, Hawthorne
Caballeros, and Cadets2. Outside of the pageantry marching arts, Tony is a Music
Education Lecturer, University Supervisor for Pre-Service Music Teachers, and
Doctor of Musical Arts Candidate at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey researching, publishing and
presenting on equity-based frameworks, including queer theory, in music
education.
After graduating from West Chester University, Kevin took his collegiate marching experience to the next level, joining The Bushwackers Drum & Bugle Corps. He began his time with the corps as a euphonium player in 2022, before stepping into the role of Head Drum Major in 2023 and serving as the Head Drum Major during the inaugural DCI All-Age season in 2024. Since then, Kevin has continued contributing behind the scenes as part of the admin team, working as an equipment manager and leadership coordinator.
Outside of drum corps, Kevin stays busy sharing his passion for the marching arts. He has worked as a low brass tech and currently serves as Visual Caption Head for Garnet Valley High School, a position he has held since 2022. He also works as a visual tech with North Penn High School.
During the day, Kevin is a Middle School General Music and Chorus teacher at Blockson Middle School, and also works with the theatre department on music and sound. When he’s not teaching or marching, you can find him coaching esports or performing as a vocalist.
