Gillis1Ryan Gillis is extremely excited to join the percussion staff at the Bushwackers for the 2014 season as the Quad Tech. Gillis holds a degree in Music Education from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he studied with Dr. Kristopher Keeton and Dr. Terry Austin. He is currently in his first year as Director of Bands at Potomac High School in Woodbridge, Va.  Previously, he was a music educator in Henrico County Public Schools in Virginia from 2008-2014.

 

Ryan has performed in multiple settings in the orchestral, marching, and freelance world. He has been a member of the Drum Line with Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps from Rocky Mount, NC in 2004, 2005, and 2007;  and performed most recently with the Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra and Commonwealth Winds.

 

gillis2Ryan has a long resume of teaching percussion for many Marching Bands, Percussion Ensembles and Indoor Groups. Most recently, Ryan was the Ensemble Director of innoVAtion Indoor Percussion Ensemble from 2012 to 2014.

 

Ryan resides in Woodbridge, Virginia with his son Aidan and Chocolate Lab Yogi.
